Acolytes

These volunteers assist in worship services by lighting/putting out candles and helping with communion.

Altar Guild

The altar guild is responsible for the upkeep of the altar flowers, decorations, candles, and fixtures. The group meets annually in January.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors oversees and conducts the business of the church.

Choir

The Holy Cross choir sings every Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service and at both the 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services on the first Sunday of each month. The group adds a wonderful and unique element to the worship service and provides a beautiful element to special worship services such as Christmas and Easter.

These volunteers count, record, and deposit weekly offerings.

Our deacons oversee the spiritual welfare of the congregation as well as the pastor and his family.

These volunteers meet and greet all who enter for worship services.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML)

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League – or LWML – chapter at Holy Cross is open to any women who want to join. The group collects mite boxes the first Sunday of even numbered months from the entire congregation. The coins from the mite boxes go to district/national mite collections. Members also attend LWML conventions.

Hands in Ministry

Hands in Ministry joyfully makes prayer shawls, baby hats, tiny angel blankets, and oversize mittens for burn and frostbite patients. These items are donated to the Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), and the people there are grateful to receive them.

Home-Bound

These volunteers communicate in person or via mail with those who are unable to attend worship services.

Ministry in Action

Ministry in Action meets once a month to discuss and plan social events for Holy Cross. The focus is fellowship.

Mothers and Others/Prayer Group

Mothers and Others is a prayer group made up of congregation members, and is open to anyone. The group meets the second Monday of every month at 10:30 a.m. in the family room to pray for the needs of Holy Cross, its members, and anyone else who needs prayer. Prayer requests should be given to Pastor Meyer (612-722-1083). All information disclosed is private and all members of the prayer group agree to keep all information in confidence.

Nominating Committee

This group finds, asks, and solidifies the slate of candidates for vacant elected offices before the annual voter’s meeting.

Scripture Readers

These volunteers read the assigned Bible readings during worship services. Sign up in the narthex.

Sound System

These volunteers run the sound system. They also record worship services and make copies for distribution to home-bound members and others who wish to listen.

Sunday Morning Coffee

These volunteers make coffee and lemonade, set out treats, and clean up.

Sunday School

These volunteers teach Sunday School and help with special programs.

Trustees

Trustees ensure the physical building is in good working order.

Ushers

Ushers distribute bulletins, help direct people in/out of worship services, pass out materials for the service, and generally help with the flow of the service and/or answer any questions people (especially visitors) may have.

Youth Group

Teens connect with trusted adults in the Holy Cross church community. They volunteer for both church and community events, and have a lot of fun doing it.

These volunteers visit members who are in the hospital.
